In addition to work in traditional materials like bronze, fiberglass, wood, stone, and ceramics I developed an economical and effective way to create large three dimensional works in cast paper.  This process is now used by several commercial hand-made paper makers, including Twinrocker,  for cast paper editions.   The paper is mold made from 100% cotton linter pulp.  The finished pieces are very light weight and surprisingly durable.

My cast paper work capitalizes on the organic and delicate nature of paper as a foil against which the intensity of the human struggle in the sculpture is played.

My drawings are frequently exploratory, involving a purely intuitive search for an expression of my sense of life.  Sometimes they are meant to be complete statements in their own right and occasionally studies, meant only to be part of the sculpture process dealing in a shorthand manner with 3 dimensional ideas.  The media most often used are pencil, ink, and charcoal.  The sizes vary to 40"x60" and the substrate is usually 100% cotton archival paper.

*In all of my work the idea or Philosophy is my primary motivation.  My art is my view of man expressed in the language of movement.  The media of my art is always the servant of the idea, and the idea is that man is a delicate balance of strength and tenderness, of resolve and hesitation, of intensity and repose, and of pride and modesty... and Ultimately man is always the hero.

"I want to know, real and living in the hours of my own days,
That glory I create as an illusion."
