MY EYES ALONE

My need
To break the chains that bind me to
The only world I know
The future past and present
Confirmed, released
I navigate the unknown
Channels and passages
Of the darkness;
By my eyes alone.

How different the world would be
If only I could share
Another's eyes but for a minute
And realize their colors
And prejudice
Unknowing and innocent
But I still must navigate;
By my eyes alone.

And somewhere as paths diverge
I reach my end with questions
More than answers.
Have I seen clearly enough?
By my eyes alone
